Connecting Builders with Consumers

Your Advantage in RV Construction

Our Commitment to Excellence

Mission Statement

To connect and support RV builders and consumers effectively.

With the thousands of units independent conversion companies each year, there was no coordinated effort or method to share ideas and push for changes that would benefit the group as a whole. While the RVIA does an excellent job of representing all RV-related entities as a whole with specific emphasis on benefiting the mid-to-large RV manufacturers, along with RV Dealerships, the independent conversion companies face unique challenges. For one, independents spends more time and money to obtain each customer. They also have higher parts costs. And they usually are not sizable enough to recognize any economies of scale.

Who We Are

We are a vital resource hub for RV builders and industry partners.

Did you know that it is estimated that independent Class B conversion companies now account for somewhere between 25-33% of all new Class B RVs being sold today? You, the independent builder, have accomplished this in spite of the fact that you have no economies of scale. The big 2nd stage manufacturers get thousands of dollars off a cargo van chassis due to the volume of purchases they make a year. They have seemingly unlimited advertising; a network of RV dealers who also have large advertising budgets and display and push sales of the manufacturer's vehicles; they can negotiate large discounts from their parts suppliers; they have many in their social media, marketing, and advertising departments who are experts in their field to write the best campaigns, and can pay for high search placement; they can easily pay for RVIA membership and lobbying; and they are included in used van guides such as NADA and Black Book. Not only that, their profits are high, and their cost per unit sold to offer health insurance and other employee benefits is low, low, low as a percent of sale.
Our members include a diverse range of builders and industry professionals who prioritize quality and innovation, helping countless consumers find their ideal RV solutions over the years.
With all the odds piled against you, the smaller independent conversion company has survived and flourished. Some of the independents are 20-, or even 60+ years old! Whether you build 4 or 200 per year, cumulatively together, your combined number of conversions adds up to thousands of units per year. And there are School Bus, independent Class C builders, and towable RV Independent Builders in the mix surviving and thriving just as nicely, again, in spite of these challenges.
But, what if all of the independent conversion companies banded together? Would there be a way to get some financial thank you from chassis manufacturers? Could we negotiate bigger discounts on parts than what you can do by yourself? Could it become as easy for our customers to finance an RV as it is for the those purchasing through RV Dealers? Could we work as a cohesive group to qualify for better employee benefits at lower rates, better commercial insurance coverages, and start working on a path toward easier and better inclusion in NADA and Black Book so our work retains better resale value?
Welcome to your RVBA. With members’ help, we have successfully accomplished much of this already. And, what we can achieve together is just beginning. But, we need you! We’ve done many of these things with just a few core members. Again, imagine what we can do when we are 100+ voices! Join Today, so your voice can be heard with us!
